Akihabara (秋葉原) a.k.a. AKIBA is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tokyo for electronic, computer, anime, robotics, etc. and it is known as the center of Otaku culture in the world. AKIBA is also known as the world leading "Electric Town" for its electrical suppliers shops where you can find practically any electronics products.
From electronic parts, screw, cabling HF equiment, Robotics Gamers, etc., I have picked a few store that you should visit and to know the deepest culture of the area.
1. Electronic parts
This shope has several boutique in Akihabara. They have wide variety of things related to electronics prototyping. They carry hardware boards from Sparkfun, MCU programmers, JTAG debuggers, all types of LEDs, and many other electronics components. They also have a good collection of educational toys, solar panels, and magnets. One of their stores also specializes in music electronics and you can get things like electric guitar pickups, stomp box switches, volume knobs, etc.

3. Screw, nut, bolt ...
Nishikawa Electric Parts
This place has almost every type of screw, nut, or bolt you could ever want. They also have an excellent collection of connectors including cable to cable, board to cable, and board to board on the 2nd floor. They carry many types of soldering irons, calipers, tweezers, reams, drill bits, wire, crimpers, and almost any other type of tool that you might need.
Akizuki electronic shop
The shop has PICs, AVRs, and ARM microcontrollers off the shelf. They also have an extensive catalog of electronics components including sensors, voltage regulators, ASICs (like USB/serial converters, ethernet chips, MP3 decoders), transistors, diodes, resistors, capacitors, batteries, etc
4. HF & VHF Equipment
ROCKET Amateur Radio Honkan
The largest amateur radio store in Akihabara. They have HF and VHF equipment, antennas, vintage radios. The store has also a radio museum. They also have a lot of materials for antenna mounting and support.
Akihabara Gamers Main Store
Near JR Akihabara station’s “Electric Town Entrance”. The Gamers building deals mainly with animation and game related goods. It is a good place if you are looking for your waifu "ワイフ" and many more activities are organized here.
How to get there
Akihabara Station is served by the JR Yamanote Line, JR Keihin-Tohoku Line, JR Sobu Line, the Tsukuba Express and the Hibiya Subway Line.
=> Haneda Airport: 50 minutes on the Limousine Bus, or 45 minutes by train.
=> Narita Airport: 2 hours by Limousine Bus, or on hour and a half by train.
=> Shinjuku Station: 18 minutes on the JR Sobu Line to Akihabara Station.
=> Tokyo Station: 4 minutes on the JR Yamanote Line to Akihabara Station.
